My career as a Chiropractic Physician began December 1994 upon graduating Life Chiropractic College, now Life University, in Marietta Georgia. Upon successfully passing my National Boards, then state boards in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee, I packed up and moved to Nashville, Tennessee to open my own practice in a small suburb. I was young and eager to help patients get out of pain and back to their lives with Chiropractic care. It was an exiting time in my life.
Now, lets take you back to my first experience as a patient, just five years earlier. I was a pre-law student at Florida State University and while training for a biathlon I injured my lower back. I suffered for nearly two months, despite having seen multiple medical doctors, who only prescribed medications and told me to stop training, stretch, and rest. Well, for a young athlete this was not a satisfactory solution. I was frustrated and still in pain. Without a diagnosis and not knowing the source of my back pain I sought relief through Chiropractic care. My newly discovered doctor began with a complete history of my condition and injury, then proceeded to examine me and completely evaluate my condition from a bio-mechanical perspective. I had never experienced an exam like this and he explained that my pain was originating from the joints in my low back. He also pointed out that I had a chronic IT Band syndrome and that my left foot overpronated. My training was apparently increasing the abnormal stress loads that already existed to my spine...thus the pain. Finally, it all made sense. We began treatments which consisted of some spinal manipulations, custom orthotics, physiotherapy, application of ice, and stretches. Nothing complicated, no drugs, no surgery, and I was back training within a couple of days after my initial treatment - pain free! Wow, what an experience.....one that would change my life and it's direction forever.
In 2017, following about a ten month sabbatical from active practice, I rediscovered my "why". I dedicated my time to re-branding my unique drug free approach to care which combined my 25 years of clinical experience along with many technological advances in the field of physical medicine to create the BPR Method™.
The BPR Method™ - Balanced Pain Relief™ - a functional based methodology of analysis and treatment of the neuromusculoskeletal system that starts with the bio-mechanics of the feet which correlates with functional examination findings, and with other diagnostic tools.
The BPR Method™ analysis is based on the premise that any abnormality or bio-mechanical deficiency can lead to stress points within the kinematic chain resulting in myofascial (muscle and fascia) changes, functional shortening of key muscle groups, and eventually pain syndromes.
The BPR Method™ treatment is based on the premise that correction of underlying bio-mechanical deficiencies through proprioceptive retraining using custom orthotics leads to balancing of the kinematic chain resulting in reduction or elimination of functional stress points. Soft tissue dysfunction and functional muscular imbalances can then be effectively addressed and corrected. Treatment protocols are fluid and are condition specific and procedures selected may vary depending on the diagnosis, underlying causes, and the overall health condition of the patient; however, the goal of treatment is the same....drug free pain relief!
A pain free life is a better life...........I feel blessed to serve others and the creation of the BPR Method™ is the next step to serve even more in need of this drug free pain relief approach.
We are currently developing a network of BPR Method™ Practitioners, my vision is to create a referral network so patients can get this care anywhere in the world.
